Ayurveda is a Sanskrit term, made up of the words "ayus" and "veda." "Ayus" means life and "Veda" means knowledge or science. The term "ayurveda" thus means 'the knowledge of life' or 'the science of life'. Ayurvedic medicine also known as Ayurveda is one of the world's oldest holistic (whole-body) healing systems. It was developed thousands of years ago in India.

It is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. The primary focus of Ayurvedic medicine is to promote good health, rather than fight disease. But treatments may be recommended for specific health problems Ayurveda Concepts .According to Ayurvedic theory, everything in the universe living or not is connected. Good health is achieved when your mind, body, and spirit are in harmony with the universe. A disruption of this harmony can lead to poor health and sickness.

It is the ancient system of treatment practiced in Kerala using the inherent principles of nature, to help maintain health in a person by keeping the individual's body, mind and spirit in perfect equilibrium with nature.

Our Treatments

Ayurveda prescribes Panchakarma Therapy as the best remedy for almost all ailments as it purifies the body from toxic waste that has settled in the body due to unhealthy lifestyles prevailing in the modern world. There are five distinct process of Panchakarma. Each process has an important effect on the body. That is why utmost care is exercised at Ayurleela while performing Panchakarmaon patients. Patients leave our hospital with improved vigour and resume their normal activities with total confidence. The panchakarmas are as follows:

Panchakarma therapy is performed in 3 stages:

  • Purvakarma - preparatory procedures that help the body discard the toxins present in the stomach and tissues and help facilitate the toxins to move to the alimentary canal.
  • Pradhanakarma - main treatment which is designed as per each individual's needs
  • Paschatkarma - post treatment care includes the diet regimen and the other dos and don'ts. 'Pancha' means 'five' and 'karma' means 'action.' This five-fold purification therapy aims at correcting the imbalance of the doshas - Vata, Pitta, Kapha in order to maintain their inherent equilibrium. During each season of the year, one or more of the doshas accumulate, which causes an imbalance and makes the body prone to illness. It involves five cleansing procedures:

Vamanam - For Skin diseases, Mental disorders etc. Vamana is intended for the removal of Kapha Dosha. However, this is not to be adopted to mere Kapha only but, necessary for when of Kapha's conjunction with one dosha or with both other doshas. In Ayurveda, Vamana has been described as the treatment which helps to throw out the doshas or the toxins out of the body from upper part in the form of incouded vomitted. Children and elders are not be subjected to this therapy.

Virechana - For General detoxification of the body & Rheumatic diseases. Virechana is medicated purgation therapy, it is the cleansing of the Pitta and the purification of the blood toxins from the body thrpouigh rectum. It completely cleanses the gastrointestinal tract. Virechana helo root out skin diseases, chronic fever, piles, adbominal tumors, worms, gout, jaundice, gastrointestinal problems, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, asthma, headaches, elephantiasis and gynecological disorders

Snehavasthi - For Rheumatism, Paralysis etc. This is an oil enema, and is very uiseful in cleansing of the colon. It is also the main therapy for all Vata disorders such as constipation, neuropogicval aailments, paralysis, flatulence, lower backlache, gout and rheumatism.

Kashayavasthi - For Elimination of toxins from the body. A combination of decoction, honey, oil and other herbal medicine are used for this enema, This helps clear up any block in body channels or impairment in the function of any digestive fire nurishment of body tissues.

Nasyam - For Sinusitics, Migraline, Facial Paralysis, Frozen Shoulders etc.. Nasyam is a method where the medicated oil or herbal juices are adminstered through the nose for a period of time prescribed by the medical practitioner. It acts by removing the excess humors accumulated in the different sainus cavities and throat. Nasyam is highly effective for different kinds of migrainbe, hormonal imbalances, paralysis, mental disordedrs, premature graying of hair, loss of smeell and taste and even can add clarity to voice. It cleaneses the different cavities and increases oxygenation thus improving brain functioning.

Njavarakizhi - For Muscular weakness and for strengthening the body. It is one of the traditinal treatment forms in Kerala. It is a procedure by which the whole body or any specific part thereof is made to perspire, by the application of certrain medicinal drugs with Njavara (special variety of rice that grows in 60 days.) rice puddings externally in the form of boulses tied up in a muslin bag

Sirodhara - Sirodhara is a form a Ayurveda therapy that involves gently pouring liquids over the forehead. The liquids used in shirodhara vary depending on the ailment the individual is beiong treated for, can inlucde lil, milk, buttermilk, coconut water etc.

Sirovasthi - Sirovasthi is an effective trteatm,ent in Ayurveda for nervous system disorders. In this therapy, warm medicated oil is retained over the head for a certain amount of time. Herbs and oil are boiled in a special way in order to extract their full medicinal properties. Normally the oil is retained on the head for about 30 to 45 minutes. The timing and duration of the treatment varies according to the condition of the patient and type of disease
